Hearts

DSC01387

This is my heart from the class. We saw Jude's heart and just started making them

I think people on the east coast need a little color so were hoping for spring.

I used a linen grid and did mosaic with silk, linen and cotton.

Some of the fabrics are from Susan who is fabulous with dying and generous with her friends.

Some of the red is from Maiwa in Vancouver. It is a wonderful store that I could live in.

They have a barrel of scraps from their projects. You can buy a bag for $3.00

What a bargain!!

I love hearts, but don't love valentine's day. Seems like a Hallmark holiday and it is just for kids.

Maybe I will try to send valentine's to friends..

Susan does and I always look forward to it.

Weaving with Indigo

This is the piece I am finally starting. I couldn't decide what to do and  stewed about it all day yesterday. Today I decided that instead of worrying about what I would do with it.. I would make something I liked. I think I have gotten sidetracked with seeing people's work that looks like quilts to me. I am not going to make a jacket or sew it on my jean jacket... at least I don't think I am. I am so new to this and I don't know which direction I am going.

So this is old chambray curtains that Jennie gave me and some indigo from Glennis and I think it is just a piece of the sky.  Maybe that is what I will call it.

I do love the class and get so stimulated by it. What a gift to do it and have the time to keep going.  DSC01381

First Project

DSC01379 Here is the first weave from the class. I like the program that Jude created and like trying out different things. This is a twill that didn't quiet get large enough. I didn't realize how big is was going to be and didn't make my strips long enough. It will get basted down as a 6 square instead of nine.

took so long to figure this out. Hope I have it now and don't have to spend so much time on it. Found I am not organized enough and keep running around.

It is so fun and I have no idea what I will do with this. guess I'm on to making more...

Boro Class Beginning

DSC01367 This is the pile of fabrics I have gathered to start the class. It is small compared to what I have but I wanted to start with Indigo.

I have no idea what I will be doing, but the excitement coming out of the discussion is overwhelming. If I didn't do a stitch it would be worth it.

PS: If you notice the mouse trap, I don't have a rodent problem, just a puppy problem.

This is the shirt I would like to work on. It is an old linen shirt that I have had for a long time. I bought two at the time, white and natural linen color. (they were on sale, of course)

Still have both and still wear them a lot. It has worn holes in the sleeve. I have wanted to do something to it for a long time. Even talked about making it an art piece to my granddaughter. My one little trial was to sew on a button with red thread. Aren't I daring?

If you notice in my picture, I am

DSC01369 wearing this shirt. It is definitely a favorite.

So not sure, where I am going but I am on the path..

As Jude says, Hey go, let's go.

What have you been doing?

So Grace asked,

what have you been doing?

Well the biggest word that comes to mind is

POOP!

We got a new dog in October since our old girl will turn 15 this April.

Theo, the new boy got giardia at day care.

Promptly gave it to Sadie, our old girl.

Since then, for 4 weeks I have been cleaning up poop.

Sadie is still sick and Theo is not.

So since I clean up poop at work, (I work with babies)

and now home, it seems all I do is clean up poop.

I also wove this sideways picture of a runner.
I did two of them, one in black and one in purple.

My Photo

and I finished this little piece. Not a good picture, not good at that yet, but it has lots of stitching and  lopsided snow flakes.

Now Sadie and I will keep going on the path to what's next..P1000040

Starting again in spirit cloth

Started to use this blog again and spent HOURS redesigning it. It finally has the color I wanted and has a comment space.. (thanks Grace for telling me.)

I am so new to this and it is hard. I hate that I send the pictures to the class and they don't appear here. Will have to figure that out.

So for now I will be here...

and away we go..
