What I've Been Up To
03/03/2012
this is the warp that i took off the loom.. it is dish towels.
here they are still altogether. it took a while to weave them all and each one is a little different. if you look closely, you can see a dark line where each one ends and another begins. i am busy cutting and hemming them all. i really like doing it. a satisfying project.
stones have been a big topic over at jude's place. i have been a collector forever.. of rocks. these are little stones that i collected at a beach actually called pebble beach. this took hours to find exactly the right one to carry home. it was heaven.
this one is a favorite. wouldn't it be wonderful to try and stitch?
these are some of the rocks collected while canoeing on rivers in washington and british columbia.
the speckly ones are granite. probably others too, but i'm a lover not a geologist.
back to stitching. someone asked if i was still working on this.. sorry i forgot who. but i am still stitching and love doing it. the sun was really fun and i think i will put eyes on it, but not sure yet.
back to the kimono.. still stitching. i did some stars and kantha stitch but am having some puckering. i may take out a row of stitching. i wanted to kantha it all so not sure how to handle it. i saw some people did invisible basting but i already have it lined and not sure what to do.. will post it at sew and ask there.
some more stitching around moons.
so this is my main focus this week. theo got hit by a car on tuesday. it was such a horrible experiece that i have been pretty traumatized, as has theo. we are hunkered down and being quiet. great time for reading and stitching. it also gives you so much time to think and be grateful for how seconds really do count in life. a few seconds here or there and life can change drastically. i wish we were born with that knowledge but maybe it would be too hard to grasp. just little glimpses sometimes makes you know what is important.
well a long post but we are caught up. thanks for coming by.
absolutely! Hopefully Theo will be as good as new, or better!
that is a long warp! I almost thought you were weaving a runner for the stairs.....

So glad to hear your doggie (and you) is OK. Yes, in a fleeting moment...Staying close at this time seems a good idea. Take care.
I think I said somewhere how interesting it is that rock love is so universal! I have my special rocks too :) Love the big one in your hand (a wishing rock!)
I think your stitching looks great. I like the sun eye-less...especially with the big eye below it. But, that's just me.
And love the moons and tiny feather too :)

i don't like to put on long warps but with towels it makes more sense. it was a good place to photograph it.

i like the sun without eyes too. i think it might even get cut out and used somewhere else.. still a work in progress.

i also thought it was a runner for the stairs. great way to photograph it.

Well. Here we are. Warps end. And right away new ones begin. And sometimes a new one comes out as something like posting a first comment, getting on the team.

a wonderful rich post! i can't even imagine the time and patience that weaving took, so admire your ability and gifts to finish something like this. that green on green eye dazzles, and your blues soothe. do you know of the picture book- "Everybody Needs a Rock"? so much rock love in this group. hugs to Theo & you- hoping you are both soon recovered.

i don't know of that book. will order it from the library. the seattle library has it all..
yes, theo is recovering. just got to chase the ball around the house. he must feel better.
